Sheldon Creed Energetic for Final Dirt Race of 2017 ARCA Season with MMM

STATESVILLE, N.C. (Aug. 29, 2017) – After a fourth-place finish two weeks ago at the Springfield Mile, Sheldon Creed will hop back behind the wheel of the No. 78 United Rentals/A.M. Ortega Construction/RTL Leasing Chevrolet in the General Tire Grabber 100. The Labor Day classic will mark Creeds first start at the 1.0-mile dirt track.

“We were very competitive two weeks ago at Springfield,” a confident Creed stated. “We raced inside the top-five all race long and had one of the best cars during the race. Even though I have experience racing on dirt, I still learned a lot that I can apply to racing at DuQuoin on Monday. I know that the MMM crew will provide me with a top-notch car. We just need everything to go our way in order to end the afternoon in victory lane.”

Last weekend at Road America, Creed earned his first TA2 class career win in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli. He started the race in 12th place - on owners points because qualifying was cancelled due to weather - but charged through the field in very wet conditions to take the victory by over nine seconds. Creed also made his second start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Road America and raced from last (40th) on the grid, for missing the pre-race driver parade, to finish the first stage in 10th place. Unfortunately, mechanical issues would sideline Creed later in the race.

MMM has one prior win on dirt last season at the Springfield Mile capturing the win in the 2016 edition of the 100-lap event.

16 different drivers have raced for MMM during the 2017 ARCA campaign. The championship team has one win at the Pocono Raceway in July with Justin Haley behind the wheel.

Chassis Information: Creed will be behind the wheel of chassis No. 588 out of the MMM stable. Creed raced the chassis to a fourth-place finish at the Springfield Mile earlier this month. Chassis No. 588 has 25 starts since 2014, earning one win (Winchester 2015), eight top-fives and 15 top-10 finishes.

MMM at DuQuoin: MMM has three prior starts at the “Magic Mile” the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. The team has one top-five finish and two top-tens with a best finish of fourth in 2014.
