Purdy Back in the Saddle with MMM at Salem Throwback Paint Scheme on the Way

Purdy Back in the Saddle with MMM at Salem Throwback Paint Scheme on the Way

STATESVILLE, N.C. (SEP. 6, 2017) – After a seventh-place finish in his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut last month at the Winchester Speedway, Chase Purdy will be back behind the wheel of the No. 78 this Saturday evening at the Salem Speedway.

Purdy who’s coming off his fifth second place finish this season with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will have support from Bama Buggies for the Eddie Gilstrap Motors 200.

“I really learned a lot as a driver in my debut last month racing at Winchester,” Purdy explained. “You can't slide these cars around on the radial tires. I think the biggest thing is to not overdrive the corner and kill your tires throughout the race. You get a lot of long green flag runs at these short tracks and you have to save your stuff. I really feel like Winchester helped us grow together as a team. I know MMM will give me a great car this weekend.”

The fall Salem Speedway event has become ARCA’s “throwback” weekend. Last year, MMM ran a special paint scheme honoring two-time ARCA champion and NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Benny Parsons. This year, MMM will run a paint scheme similar to Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s No. 8 that he won with in the 2001 Pepsi 400 at the Daytona International Speedway.

“Growing up as a kid, Dale Jr was always my favorite driver. He played an important part on me personally making the decision to race at a young age. He’s such an important person in the sport and to everyone involved in racing. It really means a lot to me to be able to run this scheme this weekend. Especially with him retiring at the end of the 2017 season. Hopefully we can put the throwback paint scheme in victory lane Saturday evening.”

Purdy will also race for MMM at the Kentucky Speedway on September 22nd in the Crosley Brands 150.

Chassis Information: Purdy will race chassis No. 589 out of the MMM stable. This is the same car that Purdy raced to a seventh-place finish in his ARCA debut last month at the Winchester Speedway. In 22 starts the chassis has two wins (Iowa 15 and Springfield 16), 13 top-five finishes and 19 top-ten finishes.

MMM at Salem: MMM has eight starts at the half-mile track earning three top-five finishes and five top-tens. MMM finished third in the Spring Salem event with Kyle Weatherman behind the wheel. The teams best finish at Salem is runner-up in the 2014 Salem Fall Classic.

Eddie Gilstrap Motors ARCA Fall Classic
